Welcome to the the 8th Mithril Gathering !
The Mithril Gathering has attracted good crowds throughout the years and it is fair to say that wargaming in Middle-Earth has never been a hotter item. Our particular trade mark is, apart from collecting and gaming with primarily Mithril Miniatures, that we write and play out scenarios based very closely on the books of J.R.R Tolkien. The contributors have always been putting up very playable games but also spend a lot of time trying to capture the Middle-Earth ethos in their displays. Though the scenarios are obviously set in a fictional world the members have always been unified in wanting to give a very real feel to them. This has over and over again resulted in very dramatic, enjoyable and beautiful scenarios.
It should also be mentioned that Jim Coreless of Time Machine Miniatures, purveyor of fine miniatures and figurines, has long been a sponsor of the Mithril Gathering and the games run there.
This year promise to be as good as the previous ones. Take a look at the event list...
Members of the Mithril Gathering group will display their work over the whole weekend. Single miniatures, dioramas, shadowboxes, Middle-Earth terrain pieces, warbands and work in progress will share shelf space for the the public to scrutinize.

The Scouring of the Shire: |
Tom Hiller, aka. Underhiller, is continuing last Mithril Gathering's wargaming in the Shire by launching a three part game which starts at the village of Bywater continues to the hedged roads outside the village and reaches its climax outside the ramshackle doors of Bag End. For all of you who sorely missed this conclusion of the War of the Ring in the movie trilogy, take this opportunity to see hundreds of hobbits take to arms against oppressive ruffians and the swarthy agents of Sharku.

Breakout from Moria: |
Richard Hale, aka. orclord, is having the dwarves of Balin fighting a desperate fight to get out of the depths of Moria, ambushed on all side. Richard is a very accomplished game master and due to this his games are very smooth and fast paced. This time he has a refurbished and enlarged Mines of Moria game board and he describes the scenario thusly:
"Dwarfs
Balin has fallen, you have just buried him deep in the mines. You
have voted to cut your way out of the mines and return for aid to
Dain. It is important that at least one of you escape to bring word
of Durin's Bane to the wise. Your task is simple, escape or die
gloriously."
"Goblins:
The hated dwarfs are surrounded. Their leader has fallen, but your
Dark Master wants the last of them dead, and you'd enjoy making that
happen slowly. They can't get away, just a question of squeezing them
until they're all gone. Of course if your band were the ones to
actually finish them off, your Master would indeed be pleased. If
some of the other scum that oppose you were to also fall, so much the
better."
