Here I have collected some links I have found on the web and which I have found useful in my hobby. Rather than listing every single one I have been to I have chosen to only show those in each category I though were better than most others.

First and foremost I need to mention those that got me into this hobby in the first place: Mithril Miniatures of Cork County, Ireland. Mithril started in 1987 as a subsidiary to Prince August Ltd, a company specialized in traditional tin soldiers and molds for home use. Their chief designer has ever since then been Chris Tubb, a devoted Tolkien fan and an very skilled sculptor. Mithril has had altogether well over 400 miniatures in production but seldom more than 50 at a time. The early series, primarely produced for the RPG market, are now rare or very rare; miniatures now in production are aimed to collector.

The Encyclpedia of Arda is a online dictionary of all things existing in Tolkiens world. It is quite ambitious project and people running it are constantly adding nicely researced, edited and designed entries to their home page. Eventhough it is questionable if it will ever be complete it is a thorough and reliable dictionary which I often use for quick reference. It is especially good for linguistic explanations of the names and places. They also have many interesting suggestions on how to interpret some not fully developed themes in Tolkiens books.

This is the premier collection of images from Tolkiens world as interpreted by a score and more artists. It probably features the complete published works by such names as Allen Lee, John Howe and Angus McBride. The legetimacy of publishing these images on the web is probably questionable but I must confess I find it a very convenient source and use it extensively for inspiration and reference.

Elendor MUSH is actuallly a online, text based game but i have for a long time used it as a discussion forum and source of inspiration for my hobby. I am willing to wager that some of the worlds most devoted Tolkien scholars can be found in this place. It is primarely devoted to role play in Third Age Middle-Earth but there are also bill boards, classes and discussion channels for those interested in all aspects of Tolkien related matters.

This is a producer of true 25mm fanatsy miniatures, which means they are in a smaller scale than Mithril Miniatures. Nevertheless they are very nicely sculpted, and I use especially weapons from this company when I convert miniatures. Thier King Arthur series is well worth a look to.

This is a producer of 28mm wargamers miniatures. Eventhough they are sculpted somewhat shorter and stockie, and not up to quite the same high standard as Mithril miniatures they are very nice and are quite adequate to use with them. I have bought their Scythian range to use as an Easterling army (Chris Tubb of Mithril has loosely based the Mithril Easterlings on this culture) and both their Huns and Celts can be used as Variags and Dunlendings respectively if you want to find new enemies for your Mithril Gondor Warband.

Just like Foundry above, this is a producer of 28mm wargamers miniatures, albeit lesser known. Although not completely 'canon' I have found both their Hun and Moorian miniatures quite useful for Variag and Haradrim armies. They have some civilan and other such tidbits that can be used in dioramas.
